NagADay Breather

DSC_1279

Yoga Nag is taking a breather, some time away from the daily internet play, the challenges, the constant connection to my phone and computer. August is time for me to turn it all off. And tune in. To me. Without the constant input and distraction the amazing electronic world provides.  I am sure I will pop back in but won’t be doing the daily nags and connection.

Thank you for your inspiration, your encouragement, your lessons. And for your love. It matters. It makes me a better yogi. A  better teacher. And a better human.

Please keep practicing. Keep shining your light and encouraging others to practice, all of us working together to show up, in this big, beautiful life, both on our mats and off.

Do yoga. Today. Every day.

Peace and pauses from my mat, and my world, to yours,

✨✨✨❤️💜💚💛💙✨✨✨✨

NagADay

salabasana

#Salabasana/#Locust pose variations. When I try it with my legs together in this variation with arms facing palm down underneath me, my legs lift less than a foot off of the ground, my neck feels cranky, shoulders hunchy, low back tense, elbows screaming mad, and my chin gets raw. Whining? Perhaps. But also signs that I am not there. So, easy does it.  I back off, practice one leg at a time, building strength and opening the places that need opening, followed by some sweet child’s poses. Ahhh…..better.  That is my yoga.

Do yoga. Today. Honoring you. Where you are.  In your practice. In your life.

Peace and pauses,
Yoga Nag

NagADay–Pincha Press!

Then this happened. Not the most elegant. Not the prettiest pincha. And don’t love a belly show. But still! A press up to pincha! My first.

Focus the eyes. Focus the attention. Find your steadiness. A tip for balance poses. Find one spot in front of you, on the ground or ahead of you, a spot that is easy to see, a spot that is not moving (eg, not yourself in the mirror or your neighbor), and don’t take your eyes off of it. In yoga, this is often called your #drishti. There are other focal points of drishti, such as staring at the tip of the nose or third eye, for example, or using gaze to deepen your consciousness and enhance a sense of oneness. But when learning to balance, using a fixed gaze technique–focusing on one unwavering spot–can often transform a wobbling, falling down tree into a stable one. Try it.

Do yoga. Today. Every day.

We’re leaving home. Bye bye. Spring break. Heading south. To Georgia. The Nag may or may not be nagging. We shall see. But do your yoga. Today. And everyday.

E X P A N S I O N. #Vasistasana. This is the pose that makes me feel the most #expansive. As well as super happy. The first time was like a dream. And it still is great. Every time. I often fall out in my expanding excitement. But I still love it. Thanks @tjhark and the #freshstartyoga peeps for a sweet series of challenges. (Side plugs: Taken @corepoweryoga, third time, after class, finding the mirrors both bizarre and informative. Wearing my favorite leggings of all time, that feel like nothing, seriously, @anjaliclothing.)

Do yoga. Today. Every day.
