Mama Love

One of my good friends and Mama yogis is in labor right NOW! This Nag is for her, sweet and powerful Mama.  I am sending you love, my friend, and squats and more love. You are woman, hear you roar (and vocal tone for those mama yogis in the know).

Everyone reading this, take a squat (free squatting; holding onto something like I am; supported with wall behind you; or sitting on a block/small stool). Do this for you. It is good for you. And do it to send some good vibes and love to my friend and all of the other laboring mamas all over the world doing their important work, the true labor of love.

Peace and love,

Yoga Nag

Wall in my Heart

Some days I am literally making this stuff up. Working on the wall in the back of my heart, wahhhhh, with a wall at the front. Semi-effective….

But Charlie was right where I needed him. Grounding me. Keeping me as soft as I can be when doing backbends. Good boy.

Do yoga. Today. Everyday.

Twiddle Tuesday

Cool app play today.  It is so easy to twiddle your time away with these electronics and all of their accoutrements.  For me, it is a daily practice not to. I have established and continue to modify my own rules around my devices, when and where and how long I get to use them. Otherwise, I might just be sitting here all day looking at the world through the lens of my electronics. In fact, I realized today, as I twiddled with this silly but fun new app I downloaded at Starbucks, that I could tighten up my reigns a little bit again. More real time in the real world with real people.

Do something away from your machines.

Do yoga. Today. Everyday.

Slow Down Monday

Happy Monday friends. A little Charlie modeling for you. Take it slow. Maybe even sneak in a nap. The world gets so busy so fast some days.

Breathe. Be easy. Be light. Maintain a healthy energy for you. And perhaps alter it a bit for those around you, even the barista at your coffee place. It’s hard to slow down when everyone is rushing. But someone needs to do it. So, smile, breathe, and change the pace. Say Charlie made you do it.

Do yoga. Today. Everyday.

Practice Something

volleyball practice

Practice something. It doesn’t have to be yoga. Or volleyball in your pig slippers, uhhh, in the kitchen. But something.

Why? So you can improve yourself. Of course, you are already perfect just as you are. But you can get better at the things that you do. Or you can learn something you have always wanted to do. Why wait? Today seems like a good day.

Practice. Something. Today. Everyday.

Get Support Where You Can

Charlie provides support and a little added weight as I lie down on my newest ball friend, Pink Lady. My grippy psoas is getting a little encouragement to let go. If you are curious about my balls (hee hee, yep, I got to ask that question), see previous post, Got Balls? If you are curious about how to use them, well, that’s another question for another day. They have been known to appear in some of my classes. My latest tricks come from another precise and slightly mean (although very kind) new friend, my physical therapist.

Message of today: Get support where you can. From puppy or PT. Or in my case, both.

Do yoga. Today. Everyday.

Balance Challenge

This is my balance challenge for the moment. What is yours?

Challenge your balance today. Your way. Stand on one foot. Walk an imaginary tightrope. You get to pick your challenge. Then, feel your wobbles. Breathe. Fall. Laugh. Repeat. Practice balancing, breathing, falling, laughing. It may make your day a little lighter. And will likely build stability for your body later on down the road. According to an article in last week’s Washington Post: “As with most physical abilities, you can either use it or lose it. You don’t often think about practicing your balance, but you should, experts say….”

BAM! So, get up and do something that challenges your balance. Yes, right now. NAG NAG. “It’s never too early — or too late — to start. You can benefit, whether you’re in your 20s, 50s or 80s. But starting early is always the best choice.” (Post article, Work on Balance Now to Avoid Falls When You Are Older.)

Do yoga. Today. Everyday.

Got Balls?

These balls have been providing nearly divine relief in my grippy hips and quads. They are a great alternative to rollers. As recommended by my wise and wonderful physical therapist. The pink girl–now known as Pink Lady–is the latest addition to my tool box. She is very precise. And a little bit mean. But I am very grateful for her hard work afterwards.

Try some balls.

Do yoga. Today. Everyday.
