NagADay

When I meditate with my family in the house, I often feel like a sneaky little mouse, burrowing away to my own little nest. It makes it better for me in some ways. This stealth, cozy approach. And sometimes it feels as dreamy as this scene seems. Sometimes it’s clumsy and uncomfortable even within this seemingly delicious landscape. But still, I am always better no matter how it goes down.

So I grab the blankets, the bolster, the seat. I light the candles. I revel in the softness and quiet. The privacy. The sneaky little space I am carving out for myself. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally.

Do yoga. Today. Every day.

Late night handstands. Alternative support. Still chicken without full wall behind me. But head pressed against bed frame is good.

Do yoga. Today. Every day.

Back bends aren’t my favorite. But I do love Vasistasana. Combining the two, and backbends aren’t so bad. Working on un-clunking these transitions. And not holding my breath. But I get a little scared…

Dog tags. For the Okinawan 120-day handstand challenge. Jingle jingle they go all day. Love the reminder. Thanks to Adam for the sweet gift, to @extendYoga for hosting the challenge and, of course, to my fellow handstanders for the great group effort. I am in such good company.

Do yoga. Today. Every day.

Finding ease even in the tough spots. How? Sometimes it is breath. Sometimes it is letting go of some holding pattern. But more often than not, I have found it is engaging somewhere else, or engaging more fully, reaching, pressing, grounding, which allows more breath, and dismantles the holding pattern, and then bam, a moment of softness unveils itself. We will begin to work on this tonight at my candlelight slow flow @extendYoga 7:15 pm, one hour. http://extendyoga.com

Sit. Breathe.

A full day of teaching. Followed by mall trip party dress shopping for my daughter. Feeling depleted. Tired. Unsettled body that has had very little of my own yoga. Swirling mind. With some “stuff” I can’t solve or let go. There is work to be done here. I see it. I know it. But not now. Anxiety is creeping in at my bleary edges. Not productive or inspired. Taxing. Judgmental. Of self.

Solution? Sit. Breathe. And find a little support in a guided meditation by the beautiful Tara Brach. Tools at the touch of my thumbs. The technology we often bash has many benefits.

Do yoga. Today. Every day.
